Hyundai Verna 2017: Worth to update from old one?

The Hyundai Verna was not considered to be a stylish C-segment sedan before the Fluidic platform was incorporated. The addition of this new platform, which is also used in the Hyundai Elantra, had managed to inject life in the sedan to make it look more relevant and more competitive against other top runners in the segment, especially in the Indian market.

The Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, along with the Hyundai Verna currently form the core of the Indian C-segment sedans in the passenger vehicle space. The present generation of the Verna is already one of the most stylishly designed cars along with features that could kill.

The upcoming version of the Hyundai Verna, once launched, will arguably be one of the best sedans in the domestic market. However, is it to be considered with utmost diligence whether the new generation model is good enough for the wait. Let’s find it out ourselves.

The Design

The updated Hyundai Verna 2017 provides a look into the future of the four wheelers designed by Hyundai, which appears to be quite promising as it sets new benchmarks in the field of designing with its fluidic aesthetics. This upcoming model Hyundai Verna 2017 comes with an exquisite design, a design you simply can’t ignore. The designing concept of the new four wheeler is borrowed from the Elantra.

The new generation model has a sleeker design on the front section, with revised visuals. The headlamps appear to be sleeker than before and house boomerang shaped DRLs underlining the projector headlamps. The radiator grille is large and hexagonal in shape and has horizontally placed slats. The wheel arches are big and prominent. That, along with one bold line running across the length of the car takes care of the side profile, giving it a racy and aggressive appeal.

At the rear, starting from the C-pillar, things start to get extremely likeable and stylish. The pillar seems to be shallower than before, making the boot look shorter. The tail lights are sharp, sleek and are wrapped around. The tail lights split at the boot lid.

The new Hyundai Verna 2017 comes with certain minuscule changes in its dimensions. For instance, the newer version is 70 mm longer and 29 mm wider. The updated version of Verna will be driven by large 17-inch alloy wheels.

Interiors

On the interiors of the next generation Hyundai Verna, the things start to get urban. The front dashboard has been kept to a minimalistic design but is classy in appearance. There will be a big touchscreen infotainment system which will be surrounded by AC vents on the two sides and standard controlling buttons and switches below. The three spoke steering wheel will be mounted with a lot of control buttons.

The seats are comfortable and I am sure you will like it more than the present generation model. The seats will be covered with classy leather upholstery which is a good news for the people who demand a premium class experience. There will also be a cooled glovebox which could turn out to be a perfect companion for the hot and sultry Indian climate.

If the exquisite design hasn’t lifted your enthusiasm, the powering section of the updated Hyundai Verna will definitely do that for you far too easily. It will be getting the same engine as seen in the existing model. This means, the car will continue to be driven by a 1.4-litre petrol engine which will be capable of making a maximum power of 105 bhp and a peak torque of 135 Nm. On the other hand, another 1.6-litre petrol engine will be able to produce a maximum of 121 bhp power and a highest torque of 155 Nm. As far as the diesel engine variants are concerned, there will be the same 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engine doing the duties under the hood. The smaller engine will be making a max power of 89 bhp and a max torque of 220 Nm, while the bigger diesel engine will be the most powerful version and will be making a maximum power of 126 bhp and a highest torque of 259 Nm.

Another interesting fact about this new generation sedan is that South Korean company may consider introducing a mild hybrid 1.6-litre oil burner. However, official confirmation is yet to be received on this matter. The transmission duties in the standard version will be done by a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed manual in the petrol and diesel trims respectively. However, the bigger 1.6-litre engines of the top spec model will also get an additional option of a 4-speed automatic transmission gearbox.

The petrol engine will be offering 17 kms per litre while the diesel engine will be good enough to offer 24 kms per litre mileage.

Safety Measures

When it comes to thesafety of the drivers and the passengers, Hyundai had already set high standards in all of its previous models. But now the company has taken it to an all new level, with the introduction of EBS or commonly known as Electrical Braking System along with the standard ABS setup which controls the car at high speeds and prevents rollovers. The new Hyundai Verna also incorporates certain safety features like 6 SRS air bags, impact sensing door unlock and speed sensing door locks.
